Specialist courses in archeaology
For 14 years the Achill Archaeological Field School has been
training and educating archaeologists in field and laboratory techniques. The
existence of the field school infrastructure, field and laboratory equipment, an
extensive library, and the resident expertise in technical training make the
Field School the ideal institution to develop and host a CPD programme. The
field school, pending the allocation of academic credit, will certify courses
listed below:- Environmental Archaeology: sampling strategies, processing of wood, seeds & charcoal
- Wood ID Course
- Digital Survey & Mapping
- Advanced Digital Survey & Mapping
- Geographical information systems
- Landscape archaeology & building survey
- Artefact manufacturing techniques in early technology
- Geophysical survey: Surveying: Plane Table, Level, Theodolite, EDM/Total

Available in April, May, August & September. Minimum of 5 participants required
