Spring/Fall Breaks

Following on from 2006 and 2007 when the field school successfully hosted groups of students from Cornell and the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee, the 2009 Spring Break programme will include first-class tuition in excavation and survey methodology at the Deserted Village at Slievemore and at a nearby Bronze Age round house.

Guided tours to premier archaeological sites in the West and Midlands of Ireland can be incorporated into the programme to suit your particular needs.

In February, March and April 2009, we will be hosting a series of Student - Faculty Spring Breaks featuring either a 7-day or 10-day programme exploring archaeological sites on Achill Island and participating in the excavation of a Bronze Age roundhouse near the Deserted Village of Slievemore.  A syllabus is available on request and we can arrange the programme to fit your spring break schedule.  Fees include accommodation in our field school house next door to the Archaeology Centre in Dooagh.

If you are wondering what to do over Spring Break  or a break later in the year and have never been to Ireland, please contact us and we can arrange an unforgettable, information-packed break here on Achill Island.
